Simple question

I have an elderly couple next door to me that has 2009 Highlander. It has a tan color upholstery. The arm rest has a little black color dirt or grease from their hands and arms and they were asking me what it the best to use to clean their interior to get the seats and armrest clean. I know sometimes that the nap just sort of wears down so you get that darker color showing thru but this looks more like just where the grease from the hands rest has turned it darker. This thing is like new and treated very good. They only drive it on trips and are non smokers. What do you think they could use to clean the interior? By the way cloth material

For leather, you can use a diluted woolite solution in warm water, or any other leather cleaner.

FOr fabric, I have had some success with (Simoniz?) automotive aerosol upholstery cleaners ... The can contains detergent foam, and there is a stiff brush to work the foam into the stain. You can then use a damp cloth or a vacuum to remove the dirt.

With any cleaner, you want to try it first on an inconspicuous area first to check for colour fastness ...

Good luck!

For fabric, I've used Tuff Stuff for years (on the Tacoma). I love the stuff because it foams up and within a minute you can remove even grease stains (dealership has left a few from time to time). I was in the parts dept just this last week and noticed they carry the same stuff for cleaning the upholstery. Guess they found it works too.

I swear by a product called Folex:

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3/HouseHome/3/CleaningToolsVacuums/FloorAndCarpetCareSupplies/PRD~0530757P/Folex%252BInstant%252BCarpet%252BSpot%252BRemover. jsp?locale=en

I have used this for years to remove ink, grease, lipstick and other stains off the interior upholstery of my vehicles and synthetic carpets in my home. Spray, rub it with your fingers for about a minute, then dab dry. Stains literally disappear as you rub. It is incredible.

Edit: Oh and bonus, it is non-toxic and doesn't have any nasty chemical smells like most other products out there.

Cheers.
