trying to find out if anyone had been curious or researched into the 2011 split 3rd row seat will be compatible or can be replaced into a 2009-2010? wish toyota had been competitive to begin with and made all 2008+ model with a split 3rd row seating.
You know I was at a dealer yesterday and I asked the parts guy that question. He flips on the screen to a shot of the rear seat drawing, every part hovering there. He says while it might fit, you'd have to order each part separately. The fabric alone is $1,000. So unless Toyota wants to offer 08-10 owners a ready made seat, it's going to be hello boneyard in a year or two. I'd sure buy one if they offered it and it fit.

Reason: dumping the "Answes" tag, don't know how it attached
Some how I can already hear Mr. Sakamoto saying "Are these americans rooney tunes?" and then that evil laugh "haha-haha-haha". Clazy Amelicans, royarty?

That and the projector is the only thing I like about the 2011's. I'm not too fond of them squeezing the front end down and leaving the bottom back bumper not painted to save some money on paint and call it redesigned. The grill looks a bit weird now with it connecting to both headlights but it's just my opinion, maybe I'm just too in love with the 2nd gen.
Can we all write to Toyota Corporation and ask them to change our 3rd row seats as loyal customers??? Will they listen to us? I feel no harm to try...
They haven't even addressed the rear bumper lip issue that people have been telling them about for years. Seems like it'll be some time between when Hell freezes over and eternity comes to an end before Toyota corporate listens to consumer input.

I'm still trying to find out if they fit. I just removed the third row split seats from my 2011 with the trim. Since I figure I will never need it and would rather have the storage space, I would love to sell the pile of parts to an '08 to '10 HL owner if I knew it would drop in. From what I have seen so far, it looks like it fits. I'll be removing the belts and put together a complete kit that will take a cargo version HL to a split 3rd seat. I will post it in the classifieds when I'm ready to sell.

Reason: updated info to avoid interest
You guys could try meeting half way. That's what I did when I made my swap with a TN member from Santa Barbara. We both drove one hour and met in a Pep Boys parking lot. It could be worth it given the money you'd save on shipping and the utility you'd both get from having the rear seat configuration you want. Just spitballing......

I don't have kids or anything, so for me the 3-d row is nothing more than curiosity. And for us to meet half way we would have to drive for about 4 hours at least. I'm not that interested
