Power liftgate failed to close/seal automatically

Yesterday my 2010 highlander rear hatch failed to close completely. Normally, pushing the lid close until it comes into contact with the latch will cause it to automatically seal. Additionally, when I use the power assist close button, the lid descends and comes into contact with the latch, but the last automated closing procedure fails to happen. Instead the door stalls for a moment, then the obstruction beep goes off and the door raises again. It seems that the latch is out of alignment.

Anyone seen this issue?

i had this exact problem. I took it to the dealership and they loosened the bottom "hook" and realigned it. It works like a charm now. I don't know why it happened, but it did randomly. I probably knocked it without knowing it.
