installing custom interior light

On my 2010 base model highlander, I have a little compartment on the dash near the drivers door that I use for holding change. I would love to install a small little light so that when I open the compartment it lights up and then turns off when I shut the drawer. This should be really easy to install except I need a light with a switch that works well.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to buy for this sort of thing? If I goto a website for car parts, I get all kinds of crazy results for "interior light switch".

Maybe try googling small interior LED lights.

Use LED lights and a switch to turn the light on when you open it. Here's an example on the Tacoma (the first post has pictures of the switch used to turn the lights on when the center console was opened):
My cupholder and storage compartment lighting.. finally took pics.

If you use a LED light that is wired to the ignition power (goes off when car goes off) why make the light switched? The current draw is absurdly low and it will go off when the car goes off...

I went with the cheap route. I put this Quik Brite that I paid a buck each and put 2 in my glove box and 1 in that compartment on the driver's side. Here is a picture of it on the driver's side.

Looks like it's $15.99 for 8 on Amazon:
