The Lease quote we got for a 3yr 15K mile/year lease is $2000 down $545.27/month (after taxes)
Is that a good deal? I was thinking somewhere around $500 (after taxes) is more like it?
First off "need advice and QUICK" are a dangerous combination. Please heed that warning. Second, I tend to be very impatient by nature, but have learned to become very patient when buying or leasing a car. ...With that said, that sounds like a pretty high monthly payment for a FWD Highlander. I know it has some upgrades but some of them I prefer are a waste of money. That's just me.
I have seen lease programs for base plus AWD Highlanders at $339 per month, 12000 miles and $2999 down. Granted, this is not loaded but has the essentials. Also, leases can have pluses and minuses. First, any money you put down you don't get back even if the car is stolen or totaled. However, you do not have to buy tires, replace brakes and do any thing for most of the lease, but you always have a payment. I prefer a good Pre-certified vehicle myself, but again, that's my preference.
If you are comfortable with the deal and have checked around for comparisons, then go for it. However, when we were looking there were a lot of slimy leases out there and we politely said "thanks and walked away". I honestly do not think car companies are going to increase sales over night and decrease incentives. I would tell the guy to put it in writing and tell him you'll get back to him. In the meantime go to at least 3-4 other reputable dealers and compare. This will give you a fair comparison, an honest assessment of the situation and most importantly give you some peace of mind about the deal you make. There is nothing worse that flipping through the internet or a local paper and seeing you got taken and there was a better deal that was just a few days away or up the road.
Thanks for the reply! By no means am I rushing just making sure its a fair deal. I know especially with the 2011 just being released dealers are hesitant to want to budge on their prices. My deal is in writing and from a Internet Mgr I have dealt with before and is reputable. From my number crunching last night it seems the price difference is around 1500 and I figure thats from the fact that we want a 15k/year lease instead of the standard 12k/year.
OK, I choked when I saw that payment. Did you ever look to see how much to outright buy a HL new? Maybe you have a company that's picking up the tab, if that's the case, no one bats an eyelash.
Have you considered a 2010? End of August, I got 6K off my sticker! No, I don't have all the bells and whistles but I have what I need and what was not there, I added.

Ya buying is an option but it would take alot more money up front for a down and the payments are still more over 600. Also I've never kept a car for more than 3 yrs before trading it in. I just worked the deal down to $500/month (tax included). With that it is around $500 over invoice price. It seems to be pretty fair considering it just came out and about 5 other dealers would not negotiate more than 1-2K off msrp!
Sometimes leasing is an option but I have always steered clear. Example, I bought a 2004 Nissan Murano SL in 2004, paid 25K for it after a major haggle and negotiation. I drove it 87K miles over 6.5 years and sold it for 12K cash in August. That worked out to about 2K a year as opposed to 6K a year for your deal. Granted, I kept the car over 6 years but it looked as good as the day I drove it out of the showroom. 6K a year plus down payment will be 20-21K over the 3 years. That is some major league dough. It sure made it a bunch easier for me to start with 12K in my hand before I bought the 2010 HL.
I got my 2010 Limited for full purchase and its has every option except the running boards and I pay about $20 more than that per month and at the end of 5 years, I'll own it.

Leasing is definitely foolish.
Quick advice, if you can't afford to buy it, don't!

See above for advice from someone that doesn't understand leasing.
Leasing done for the right reasons isn't a bad thing. Plenty of people buy and trade in on a 2 year cycle, if they leased for those 2 years they wouldn't take as big of a hit.
Leasing isn't for everyone. Buying isn't for everyone. Bottom Line.

Ya I have yet to keep any car for more than 3 years so we decided leasing might be better for us. Well anyways I signed all the docs this afternoon and took home a new 2011 HL SE V6 fully loaded. Love it so far! Thx guys for the responses!
