2011 and portable NAV's

I may be picking up a new 2011 w/o nav this weekend and had a few questions..
I read on here were some were having reception troubles with portable NAV's on 09+ models, is this still a problem?
Some more interesting reading here: http://www.gpsmagazine.com/comments/000434.php
Hard to tell what to believe, some say windshield is at fault where others say proximity to stereo is the trouble.

Also please share any mounting ideas, in my Dodge Charger I mounted my Garmin in the sun glasses holder like this, trimming was required but it folds up when not in use, I used Velcro so pops out for use in another vehicle or to take inside and load addresses from a pc or hotel room and turned out nice.

Hey! Welcome to TN . I think there was a thread on this before, so try doing a search for GPS and see what comes up. I have a 2009, and my Garmin was bought in 2008 (it is a Nuvi 760). I have not had a problem, except for when I turn off the Garmin, and move my vehicle before turning the Garmin back on. It sometimes just takes a few minutes for the Garmin to find the satellites. Of course, this is a problem with any vehicle I used it in. Other than that, I have never had a problem. I have mounted it to the left of the rear view mirro r, and also at the lower right of the windshield. I even placed it in one of the cupholders on the centre console with no issues. Again, these are just my experiences, but I think those without these problems outweigh those with these problems.

As far as your install goes on your Charger, I like it. Good job. I may have to take a look to see if something similar is possible on the HL.

Interesting....my wife's 2011 HL is still not here so I can't say if I'd have issues... I do not think you will have any. I am off to read than link that was provided.

I still have my old Garmin nuvi 360 and have used it on a few trips with no issues on my 09 Sport. I suction mount mine tight to the headliner, on the drivers side of the rear view mirror (ran a wire up there).
