How much should this ding cost me?

I was doing about seven different stupid things in a parking lot at once and I managed to do this to my car. Can anyone tell me how much I should expect to pay to have it fixed? Should I get it fixed or will the repairs end up costing me more than the increase in the resale value (my only real reason for getting it repaired)?

Also, can anyone tell me what the little round thing that popped out below my light is called (image #4)? I might want to replace that which is hard to do when you don't know what the part is called.

1: Right rear wheel well:

2. Right rear door:

3. Right rear door -- different angle:

4. Missing decorative thingy on the front bumper under the headlight:

5. Undamaged decorative thingy for reference

Whoa, I thought I was going to see a door ding, that's a major malfuntion.
My guess, 450-$550 but heck, that is just a guess. They need to paint not only THAT door but the surround area so that they can blend and feather it in.

Too bad they don't have Carsmetics in Nevada. Estimates from any shop are going to vary, but I'd agree with Thunderchief that you're looking at a minimum of $450-$500, maybe double that actually. My condolences to you....I'd cry like a baby if that happened to mine....

I've found the fog light cover on a few websites, but they only seem to have the driver's side available.

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...or+Accessories
http://www.discountbodyparts.com/cat...r&dbpid=nextag

Is there any way I can find out the part number of the passenger side one? Do I just add or subtract one to the driver's side part number?

Re: the dent: Hmm... what are my options to just make sure that the metal I've scraped down to doesn't corrode? Maybe I'll just drive around with a dent and make people assume that I'm a dangerous driver, and hope they'll decide to give me extra room. On the other hand, is there any chance I could DIY this and not end up making it worse? I'm guessing no.

1. I was trying to get into a parking spot... wait for it... *drum roll* in the DMV. Now I know to only park near there, since the fight for parking in the parking lot is much more ferocious than I'd like to deal with.

2. I went the wrong way in a one-way area (which I didn't notice until after the fact).

3. I didn't get all the way to the left to take a right hand turn... which with a Highlander's turning radius...

4. Once I realized that I was going to end up crooked, I didn't just back out the way I came but tried to straighten myself out. This made the right side of my vehicle end up even farther right.

5. Once I thought I was touching the object on my right, I figured that I was just being paranoid.

6. I was also distracted trying to collect my papers and avoid pedestrians.

7. Buying a big car when I'm apparently too used to small, maneuverable vehicles of the two-wheeled variety.

Just call the insurance company and have them fix it. Lesson learned. Or you can tell them you were parked and some jackass did it. I still want to know what you were doing so the forum and myself do not do what you did. Tell us.

You can contact Gary, TN Supporting Vendor TOYOPARTSMAN, and ask. He's a really great guy and a lot of people are happy with the deals he gives members here.

What-ever you do, do not do a DIY fix, it will look really bad if you try and use bondo and sand it. You will never be able to paint it to match. This is just one of those where you gotta suck it up and pay the piper.

If it makes you feel any better, I once left my Murano in "N" and not Park. Long story but it rolled away on a slight incline. It hit head on into a parked Econoline van. Don't ask! Anyway, about 500 bucks later, my bumper was fixed. We all do some dumb things that we regret, that was mine. Bring it to a good body shop and start with at least 2 estimates from 2 good places, go from there as a starting point.

Wow, body work in the US is inexpensive compared to up here. To have that damage repaired and painted properly by a quality shop would easily reach $2000 - $3000 here.

Depends if they can straighten out the sheet metal w/out a door replacement. Thinking about it, I may be low on my estimate by a couple of hundred dollars.

I see $1500.00 worth of damage easily if it is repaired properly and refinished using the right materials. That rear bumper alone will run about 400 to fix right.

I did not notice the rear bumper, I just thought it was sheet metal on the door.
