Tow Package Required?

hey folks, help a newbie out here. looking at purchasing a new HL, but on the toyota website it looks to me that the tow package is included within the navi package. so is it really required and not optional?

never have i towed anything or plan to tow anything in the foreseeable future.. just want to save money where i can!

If that is true, then I am pissed. I have the Navi and no tow.

In all the times that I've visited the 'Build Your Toyota' page for the 2011 Highlander (using my zip code) I've only seen 2 options offered - the TOW PACKAGE and the NAV PACKAGE. I've never seen just the NAV PACKAGE by itself. Maybe it's only offered in certain zip codes?


EDIT: Now that I've had my hot toddy tonight and re-read your post I can say that the TOW PKG does come with the NAV PKG. I haven't seen the NAV PKG offered without the TOW PKG. So, if you want the NAV PKG you'll have to take the TOW PKG with it.

I have tow and no Nav. I did not want the tow since I don't tow. I thought I would have a hitch on the back and again, did not want it. Found out the tow is beefed up alternator and either beefed cooling system or tranny cooler, can't remember. Anyway, I like having the heavier duty stuff on there even if I will never tow.
