Hi folks,
Looks like I'll be getting a 2010 base HL - got a decent year end deal.
It has the trailer prep pkg. and I plan on putting on a hitch for bike racks, steel grate-type gear carrier, etc. No plans to pull a trailer now though I would like to wire it just in case.
Searched here and watched some installation videos - seems like a straight forward process but does anyone spray undercoating into the nut holes or between the hitch and frame?
Also any pros/cons on the brands of hitch (Curt, Valley etc) and installation tips would be appreciated.

Thanks again for your comments.
There are lots of threads on this. Just do a search for 'hitch'.
IMO, the OEM looks the best, but unfortunately costs about twice as much. The after market hitches are a couple inches closer to the ground than the OEM. I have the OEM hitch and have absolutely no regrets.

Thanks,
If you get a chance could you tell me the measurement from the top of the hitch opening to the ground? They give this measurement on the aftermarket hitches and this will help me compare the OEM to aftermarket. No HL in the local lot had factory installed hitches for me to measure.
Thanks again.

It's approximately 17.5" from the ground to the outside top of the 2" receiver (that's in my garage on a level concrete floor, so it should be quite accurate). I believe that it sits 2-4" higher than the aftermarkets. If you haul a camper, I would recommend the OEM for the extra height, because some campgrounds can have some challenging terrain that would cause parts of your setup to drag on the ground at times.

do you happen to know the part number of the OEM hitch? My wife's 2011 HL AWD V6 SE has the installed towing package but without the hitch. I am not sure why in hell is Toyota not including the hitch in the package. I would not mind paying for it....
I am also in the market for a hitch and I you would not mind, can you post some pictures of the back end of your Lander?

Sorry I never got the chance to do this. I see that you found a few other threads and replied on there. Lots of good pics there too. Good luck.
