Highbeam issue

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Last night I was driving my wife's 08 Highlander Sport and noticed that the light switch was in the continuous highbeam position (forward), but only the lowbeams were on. I could move the light switch to the temperary position (aft) and the highbeams would work. Also the low beams worked in the normal position (mid).

When we got in it to come home, it all worked normally. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue before I look/find the wiring diagram to see if it would be the relay, switch lever, or black box somewhere.

Thanks.

If you are on daylight, the highbeam won't works (only flash). Maybe when you arrived home you were on night light (if on auto mode) then they would work.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

It was already dark for a few hours that night when it happened. I cant remember if the car was in auto mode or regular headlights.
I noticed it when I was driving with the low beams on and I wanted the high beams on a dark road. I tried to move the lever forward, but noticed it was already there. Then I moved it to the center position and noticed no change in intensity of the headlights. Tried it a few more times, then decided to try it aft (momentary position) high beams and it worked.

You must have been in Auto mode, in which case the highbeams in the forward position will not work, until you turn the lights on with the switch.

I leave mine in Auto mode all the time and the high beams function normally.

The Highlander is the wife's car and I dont drive it much. Usually when we have more than will fit in my Jeep or when something needs to be fixed.
