I got quoted $31,700 for a 2011 Toyota Highlander SE V6 2x4.
There is a Toyota incentive for $750 off or 0% APR for 36 months, and 2.9% for 48 and 60 months.
I was just wondering if I am suppose to subtract the $750 rebate from $31,700 and that would be my final price or do I do that separately after I buy the car.
Should I email the dealer back and talk about the incentive because for another dealer, he said he already included it which is BS in my opinion since he didn't know if I was going to finance it or pay cash.
I am confused about how to obtain this cashback incentive.
Hey Satek, I bought my HL a few months back. I found the best way to price it in the USA is to go to Overstock.com, click cars, build your HL and then it will show you how much discount and it will show 3 dealers willing to sell it to you. It will quote their prices and they will all vary somewhat based on their inventory.
Important, they will not tell you what dealerships are pricing the quotes, they will give you a distance from your zip code. Will not take you long to Google map it and figure out what dealerships are quoting what price. Simply print it out, ask the sales manager if he wants you to hit the button to enter it in Overstock. He will say no, don't do that as then the dealer has to pay overstock 2-250 bucks commission.
I used this tactic to buy my HL and saved thousands without going through the battle at the showroom.
Give it a try, it should give you a real price they will sell. If they say no, say fine, your going home to hit the button and let one of the other 2 dealerships get the sale.

The dealer will process the paperwork to get the $750 TFS rebate. Most dealers will quote with that figure already off so you get a lower number, when you get to F&I and decide to finance at the low rate is when they'll drop it on you and you end up paying $750 more.
For most consumers, the special financing is a better deal than the $750 but that changes from person to person and how much you're financing, etc.
Check with Edmunds.com to price out your vehicle to make sure you're getting a good deal.
At the end of the day you decide on a fair price. The dealers have more of an incentive to find a buyer than vice versa since dealers are a dime a dozen. In addition Toyota used to have an inflated ego about itself based on quality, a bulletproof reputation, etc. They got greedy trying to beat GM in sales volume and as a result became GM, they no longer have a bulletproof rep to stand on.
Not trying to stir the pot here, but I didn't think you could get an SE with a 4x2 option?
I know the website will not let you do it.
If I am right what are they quoting him based on?
Perhaps a 2010? Just trying to help clarify the price for him, cause a base SE with a V6 MSRP is 35,700.

The rebate should be listed as a "coupon" and taken off your order's final price. I am not sure if you are negotiating purchase price or final price. The rebate as of (12/27) on the 2011 is $500 and the rebates on the 2010 are $1500.
Here is how my order worked out on 12/27 for a 2011 4x4 SE with cargo mats, tow prep and rubber mud matts (negotiated free).
Sticker $35,945
Purchase Price $32,254
Plus title tax/processing fee bull$#!^ $396
Plus sales tax $979 (trade involved)
Registration filing fees $65
Total $33,694 before rebate then they subtract:
Less $500 rebate
Less trade
Less downpayment
Total net is what the bank wants for the next several years.
I got Toyota 2.9% financing and the rebate. They know you can get 3.5% from your credit union so will let you have the Toyota credit no argument. However, if you want the 0% out now - forget the rebate.

Tried the overstock.com thing and got about $32,000 which was over my original $31,700.
Good news though, I managed to get a 2011 Highlander SE V6 FWD with carpet mats, window tint, and tow package for $30,950 + TTL if paying be cash. It would be $31,700 if I financed it for 0% for 36 months. BTW, the regional incentive was $750 off if paying by cash or 0% APR for 36 months.
Is that a good deal? I made an appointment to go check it out this weekend.
I got my 2011 Base for just about invoice price (before the $750 rebate). I went to toyota.com and did the "build your own", then at the end there's the option to contact a dealer for a quote. I did this for several dealers, and one responded with a price that was way lower than the rest.
One thing to be careful about though - several dealers emailed me back with just the base price without the options I wanted, but the one I ended up with was pretty clear - he told me the MSRP of the car he had, then gave me his internet price.
I paid $28415 + TTL - $750 rebate for my car which has an MSRP of $31565.

Interesting. I live within 20 miles of three Toyota dealerships including the one I bought my current HL from (who, by the way, is the best car dealer I have ever dealt with). I just tried the Overstock.com process. It quoted a 2011 SE price $3000 less than what I've been seeing but the closest dealer it listed was 70 miles with the next one being 90 miles. Bummer.

Are you saying, you won't drive 70 miles for $3,000? The closest dealer to me 70 miles anyway.

No, not a bummer, a sales tool. You print it out, walk into the dealer with the print out and ask if they want you to hit the enter button and have the dealer 70 miles away to call you for the car? I did EXACTLY that and the sales manager said, no, no, hold on, I'll match the price and they did. I saved many thousands using that tool and method.

Sure I would, but there are a lot of shady dealers out there and I'm not totally convinced that what OverStock.com is telling me is real. I mean, when you think about it, if it was that easy to save $3000 off the REAL market price of a Highlander it would be posted all over the place.
I prefer to have my vehicle serviced where I purchased it. The long-distance deal would have to be really sweet as right now I'm 20-mins from the Toyota dealer who is the best dealer I've worked with in 30 years of car buying. They have 30-min 7:30am oil chages, free state inspection, free loaners, etc. and have bailed me out of trouble on a few occasions. All those things are worth something to me.
As for the distance, I once drove 150 miles round-trip to pick up some killer 18-inch hoagies!

If you want I will show you my price sticker and my sales slip, my base was 31382 with my leather installed dealer option, my price 25,382 plus 499 doc fee (rip off but I got a great price so I did not balk on the doc fee) plus tax of course. Bottom line was my discount off sticker was $5760. You can pay your 3K more if you feel that is the smart thing or you can simply bring the print out in and show them what you can get the same car for up the road. Please don't insinuate that it is not real, beacuse it is and that is how I bought my car.

Great deal Thunderchief!
I just picked my 2011 Highlander SE this Saturday and waiting to install mud guards before I take it out for more.
Anyways, for the leather seats, do you know how to care for them?
I was reading that you should use leather cleaner, leather conditioner, and 303 aerospace protectant, but I am not sure that our leather is "true" leather, but instead vinyl. For that reason, do you have any recommended ways of cleaning and if we should apply anything to the car right off the lot?
