OEM hitch fascia won't snap on

Hi folks,
For those of you who installed a factory OEM hitch do you have any tip for installing the provided fascia?
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to snap the fascia to teh bumper cover - the black tabs on the fascia won't engage the slots in the bumper cover no matter how hard I push. I dono't want to break anything so thought I'd ask here first.
Otherwise so far so good on the install. Have yet to cut the original plastic pans and re-install those.
Thanks for any tips!

Here is a link to a past thread regarding the fascia, and also you might use "fascia" as your only search term and search the 2nd Gen forum for other fascia threads that I remember being posted. Should be some details in those as well.

Thanks,
Also just found another under the title factory tow hitch that indicates using a flat screwdriver from behind will do the trick.
Thanks again

Yeap. Getting the Fascia on is the hardest part of the install

yea,
installing this hitch has been a major pain in the ... I got all but one of the snaps connected and I still have to cut out the underside covers for reattachment. I really wish I would have gone with an aftermarket hitch - it would have been much easier. Toyota fails big time on this one.

The 2011 hitch has all places on the underside plastic panels scribed so you know where to cut.Earlier models I believe you have to measure

so technically a 2011 hitch would fit a 2008?

I got all but one tab to engage....I tried the flat screw driver approach but still couldn't get it into the position.....I just gave up, don't think anyone would notice. It is annoying, though. Description and pictures from my install experience below:
