Help with wireless headphones

My daughter just got a 2008 Highlander with the factory dvd player that drops down from the ceiling. She says it plays but cant hear anything through the wireless headsets. She said the light on the headset is on. She has adjusted volume and still nothing. Is there a setting she is missing. I live in a different state so I can't help hands on but I was hopefull that it wasn't broken but just a setting off. Thanks so much in advance.

I think there are two channels for the headphones, from memory there is a channel select switch on the side of the headphones.
Also try putting brand new batteries in the headphones if she hasn't already, they may have enough juice to turn the light on but not actually power the headphones.
