XM Ready on 2010

Recently purchased a 2010 highlander limited with Nav. I was shocked to find out that it doesn't have XM built in. Instead I need to purchase a XM reciever.

So I'm wondering is it possible to use the prewire XM antenna with my current iPhone XM unit I have. I had it in my other car before. I just though if I didn't have to run new wires for an antenna it would be great.

If not any one have a DIY for a 2010 and the parts needed. I saw a DIY for a 2009, but not one for a 2010.

Thanks,
Shane

Shane,
I feel the same way that you do. XM really should have been integrated into the unit. Anyway, I installed the Toyota XM unit in my '10 about 3 weeks ago. I used the 2009 instructions and they were exactly correct for the 2010. I think there's a copy of '08 instructions out there somewhere that are not the same. I think those guys have to put an antenna in the dash somewhere.
If you do the Toyota install, people warn you to be very careful removing the plate around the start button as it is extermely prone to stress marks in the plastic. These people are not lying. Another thing that I found out on my own, be careful with the drivers seat. Instead of taking it out of the car completely (it's heavy), I just unbolted it and tilted it back into the back seat area. There are bolts on the inside of the seat that will scratch the center console. You can't really see the scratches with the seat in but I still know they are there
Other than that, the install is really straightforward.
If you want to use the antenna with another radio, you can get a pigtail or extension cable made with the correct ends on both sides. I'm sure there are a bunch of places that would make them. Here's one: http://www.vaistech.com/ecart/agora.cgi?product=10. Gooogle probably has several more.

Thanks for all the great information. I'm still pretty upset that they don't include it with the package. But I'll get over that.

I looked at the link you sent. Is the cable the SFA12M cable? Just want to make sure I order the right now.

Wife is OK with using her iPod adapter for XM for now.

No, I'm pretty sure it's the F version. Here's another site with a better picture.
Maybe someone else who has done this can help. You've also got to make sure that the other end is compatible with your XM unit, or else you'll have to either get another adaptor or cut the end of that cable off and put a different connector on it. I really thought there would be somewhere that would custom make these things but I can't find one.
