I searched the forum and found one post with a guy saying that 2nd Gen Highlanders dont need these "bandaids". Even if they dont need them, can we still add aftermarket ones like Ultra Racing ones? I have gone to their site and there is nothing for Highlanders, but if its built on a Camry platform, would Camry parts fit? It may sound stupid, but just asking.
Thanks.

I don't think Camry parts would fit. The Highlander is (i) wider and (ii) heavier. You would need much beefier sway bars than a Camry.
Majority of the people I see driving the Highlander could care less for such performance upgrades and that's why we see a lack of aftermarket support for these models.
Good luck

My sport model handles pretty darn good, for a large vehicle, but I would be interested in a set of upgraded sways. They really DO make a huge difference.
My '06 came with a 'strut tower bar' from the factory. I'm curious to know what Toyota did to correct any suspension issues in the 2nd Generation HL models...especially the 2011 issue?
Maybe they used gauze pads instead of a 'Bandaids'?

Whatever the reason for the lack of aftermarket support, I really miss being able to improve ride and performance with custom parts. It seems like that whole industry has declined. My '93 4Runner benefited greatly with add-ons. I guess I'll just resign myself to my stock '11 HL.
A strut tower brace prevents the body from flexing along its axis (torsional flex), whereas anti-roll bars prevent the body from rolling or leaning in a curve.
Since the 2nd generation is a newer, heavier model, the extra steel translates to better torsional rigidity, negating strut tower braces.
Were there any real suspension issues in the 1st generation? I am not aware of any geometry issues in the current generation, and the Sport seems to handle pretty well for what it is.
Thanks

Are aftermarket dampers available? Usually they make a huge difference in ride / handling.

I have taken turns/curves and I feel the rear not that stable. I know its higher than a car, but maybe the sway would help. Hey, you'll never know until there is part to try.
Thanks all.

See if lower pressure makes a difference. I think 40 psi will make it handle a bit squirrely in fast sweeping turns or if there are imperfections in the road surface.
I run 35 psi in Toyo Observe G02+ and the ride is extremely confidence inspiring - at least when it's cold. Once the weather warms up, I will switch to a summer compound.

I took an exit ramp at 30mph, not that confidence inspiring let me tell you. I know is not a race car, but still, the back felt very unstable. I think I will stick at 20mph.

Haha, I know how you feel, Iollonais.
The Highlander def got the engine to go forward! It just need a little help on turns.
I guess sport tires will help quite a bit.
Hoping Eibach or H&R will have anti-roll bar for our suv soon.
Don't get me wrong, I love my suv, just want a little bit of "sport" build into it like the X5 or FX....
