Help needed on emtying HL tank

Hi, we filled up the gas tank last Wed, learned of the dealers promotions on Thurs and Fri, and traded it in Fri nite. So now I have about $60 worth of gas that I'll be giving the dealer for free.

I bought a $15 gas pump (looks like a small fat manual bicycle pump) that has 51 inch hose on it. I pushed it all the way into the filler tube and I'm not getting any gas out. The pump does create a vacuum, but the hose isn't getting wet. It looked like it got wet once, about a foot length, but still no gas. ??

Any ideas on how to get the gas down to less than 1/4 or 1/8 of a tank? I cant find any pics/diagrams on the net of the filler/tank.

I got a reasonable deal on the new HL, but they're gonna charge me to install the crimped door guards, so I don't feel obligated to give them a full tank of gas.

The Toyotas have a screen partway down to keep people from siphoning gas out of it. There are probably lots of ways to do it, but they should be giving you a full tank of gas with the new vehicle (they've always done so with us), so why not just call it even and save yourself the hassle?

Yep, thats the plan. They do give us a full tank... it was just the trade in was just filled and our other car - a Sienna, was on E and they were gonna charge me for installing the door guards- a $98 fee. They aren't per a chat with the saleman today, so I feel better.
