Seafoam (2gr-fe)

Ok so i have found basically nothing concerning seafoam and the engine in our highlander. I found 1 video on youtube about it (with our engine, actually on a camry), but does anybody have any experience with this on their cars? I know to use the brake booster vacuum line (i think thats whats its called, but i know where it is on the engine), and use 1/3 of the can there, but i am a bit hesitant. I have read plenty of posts about how good it is, others say its bad... any info would be great thanks

I have used Seaform as a fuel stabilizer in my seasonable engines but never in my daily vehicles. I would consider using it on a 10 year old engine if it wasn’t running well but not in a 3 year old vehicle that has no issues.

yea i figured it might be soon, i was just thinking prevent buildup, not clean it once it builds, considering it already has 55k miles on the engine. I might be jumping the gun on this though

I have used seafoam on older engines. It really helped the miata's I owned but they all had over 120k on the engine before I used it. Basically you meter Seafoam into the engine through an upper intake vacuum fitting by using vacuum line and an adjustable clamp. Lots of smoke - Kills lots of bugs in the neighborhood. Takes a couple drives around the block to clear it all out. The end result was less pinging and better pick up.

What worked better than Seafoam is the GM combustion chamber cleaner (available only at dealers).

I don't think your Toyota needs this level of treatment. It takes a while for carbon deposits to become a problem.

I have had good luck with running Liqui Moly Intake & Valve cleaner as a preventative measure on my other vehicles. This was just added to the gas tank during the fill up previous to an oil change at about 60K, 90K, 120K miles.
