Play in hood latch of '11 Highlander?

My '11 HL seems to have a bit of play in the hood latch. If I press down gently on the front edge of the hood there is some movement until it contacts the bumpers. It's as if the hood support bumpers need raised slightly. I haven't had a chance to swing by the dealer's lot to see if I notice it on other vehicles. I will mention it on my next service appointment but was just curious if other owners noticed anything.

No play like that on our '10 HL. And I checked my Tacoma just to see if it did it or not, and no it doesn't do it either. So I'm guessing something's out of alignment...either the latch or the bumpers.

11 Highlander hood latch

Driving my 11 Highlander LTD home from the dealer, my hood was banging at every bump. when I arrived home I adjusted the rubber bumpers to remove the slack and that fixed the rattle.

Thanks. I'm thinking of doing the very same thing. I'm going to check it out tomorrow morning.

I went to the dealer to check out the 2011 highlanders as compared to my 2008 and let me tell you that every single 1 had some cosmetic issue with it on the lot! 1 had the rocker panel moulding literally ungluing from the body, another had misalignments of the chrome mouldings on the top of the doors and another had bumper color issues...and more. Seriously? how the hell can toyota let this junk out of the factory? Toyota needs to take a serious look in the mirror..or they really just don't care anymore.

Hood fixed. All it took was one turn of the outer rubber bumper stops. Didn't even need any tools as they turn by hand.
