Passenger Side Power Window Problem

Wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue as me.. My passenger side power window does not go down when i push the passenger door power button. But when i use the driver side panel to bring down the window it works. Then I try the passenger button again and it works.. It's intermittent..sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn't.. It usually doesn't work just after I start my car. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Thanks for replying.

Not on the HL for me, but the Tacoma double cabs have that problem with the rear passenger door's window switch (intermittent from rear door but works from driver's door all the time). I've experienced it first hand and it's a common problem with them. Take it in if you're still under warranty.

Thanks for the reply 05 Moose.

I took my car in today and obviously the dealer could not reproduce the problem. I've been told they took the switch apart and (not sure what they did to it --maybe blow at it?) and put it back. I told them that it is intermittent and I wanted them to replace the switch but they say Toyota won't replace parts unless they can reproduce the problem. I know that this problem will come back eventually. what should I do? Thanks.

I know what you're describing. I had to wait until it was rolled down in the summer and wouldn't roll up. I went straight to the dealership and left the vehicle running (didn't want to risk the intermittent problem fixing itself when shutting off/restarting it). Once I got there, I double checked that it still was not working, then went in and got a service adviser. They came out and checked the door switch, confirmed the lockout button on the driver's door had not been depressed, and then tried it from the driver's door (which worked). Once they verify it, they'll document it and you can come back later to have it replaced when you want.

Yes, they did. And then later that same summer the new switch did the same thing. Since it's intermittent and always works from the driver's door, I said screw it! Since it's such a common problem on just the right rear door on the Tacoma Double Cabs, I'm thinking it isn't really a problem with the switches (that's not to say they don't go bad). I'm thinking there's probably a manufacturing defect in that maybe there's a loose connection in one of the wiring plugs. The loose-fitting wire inside a wiring plug is actually a problem for many people in the Tacoma for the heater fan. It causes the resistor that runs the low and middle speeds to burn out. Then when people go to replace it, they find one of the wire pins inside a plug is loose and dark (like it's been arcing). If I ever get around to it (not likely), I'll pull the door panel off and inspect the wiring itself.
