Yes, they did. And then later that same summer the new switch did the same thing. Since it's intermittent and always works from the driver's door, I said screw it! Since it's such a common problem on just the right rear door on the Tacoma Double Cabs, I'm thinking it isn't really a problem with the switches (that's not to say they don't go bad). I'm thinking there's probably a manufacturing defect in that maybe there's a loose connection in one of the wiring plugs. The loose-fitting wire inside a wiring plug is actually a problem for many people in the Tacoma for the heater fan. It causes the resistor that runs the low and middle speeds to burn out. Then when people go to replace it, they find one of the wire pins inside a plug is loose and dark (like it's been arcing). If I ever get around to it (not likely), I'll pull the door panel off and inspect the wiring itself.
