GPS override

Hi,
Just picked up my new 2010 highlander with full nav and all the tricks and had a few questions.
1) the lack of being able to use the nav while driving seems insane. I've spent an our or two searching and wondered if any one recommends the best way to fix or hack.
2) don't want to crack the dash to do it so curious on the experiences with after market hacks.
3) is there any way to tell the Bluetooth lady to talk less

By the way I tired:
Volume and tap top left bottom left three time
Info and lights on and off three times
Display and top top left bottom left 3 times

Got the menu but no nav override as seen on other posts.

Looking forward to replies.

The only way to override is to buy an after market override unit which requires the nav unit to be removed to install it. I thought about it but decided not worth the money an the hassle. I can just pull over for 2 min to punch an address or if you prefer not to, you can always use voice commands to enter an address while moving. Check your manual for available commands.

When you say the bluetooth lady what do you mean? Voice guidance?

I just installed the Lockpick 2 from Coastal Tech which I'm pretty happy with so far. There's 2 of these things out there, this one and the one from Prestigious Society. The difference as far as I can tell is that the PS one has a button that you stick on your dash somewhere to turn it on and off and the Lockpick 2 lets you "double click" the power button to activate it, and it turns itself back off when you're done. It also has a video input which I hooked up to an iPhone composite cable so my passengers can watch movies or TV with a slingbox. You can also dial phone numbers from the NAV and turn on the backup camera whenever you want.
You do have to take the dash apart but it's not that bad. Install went really quickly.
Anyway, that's what I did to fix it, and that's what I would recommend.
