My wife and I went to the dealership yesterday looking at the HL SE model. She was set on the Blizzard Pearl with Black leather interior. The dealership stated they found one they could get and it would be here tomorrow (today). When we got there to pick it up, we were surprised to see it was actually Gray leather interior with Charcoal flooring and was also told that you cannot get the SE with Black leather interior, only the Limted gives you the option for Black leather. The question? Is he right or was he just trying to make the sale and lied? My wife was really looking for the Black interior and I could tell she was a little disappointed even though she took it. If they are wrong, I'd be bringing it back!
I see you are in New Orleans. I went to the Toyota website and selected "Build you own", keyed in zip code 70129, chose the SE trim and Blizzard Pearl with Black interior shows as a valid option. You might want to try it yourself, print out the configuration and show the dealer.
Went to the Toyota configurator on their web-site and I was able to build an SE with Blizzard Pearl White and Black leather. So a little white lie on their part to get the sale I am thinking.

I tried the same thing and got the same results, I just wanted a second opinion here or maybe confirmation from someone who has one as Blizzard Pearl with Black leather interior.
There not much blizzard pearl in my area, but I seen grey exterior and black interior and it is SE. I was about to buy one but black interior gets hot in the summer, and decide to go grey(ash) interior.
1-because of the situation in japan, it is hard to find the exact HL you want
2-ash interior gives you dual color dash and doors which I like much better compared to an all black interior. If only the seat color changed, i would consider. But not like this.
Yes, they probably lied about how you can/cannot get it for that color combo. However, there may be none available in the area or none at nearby dealerships that they want to deal with.
When we shopped for ours, we found that some dealerships play nice with some dealerships but would rather not deal with other dealerships.

Just enjoy your new ride!
Ok so I was in fact able to locate one here listed as "Available" with Black interior, but now that we've had it almost 2 days, I'm beginning to really like the Ash interior and as you mentioned, here in New Orleans it will be EXTREMELY HOT and with the black leather it would only be worst!
Now for another issue...why would they add the Tow Package on a HL but not include the hitch to go along with it? That doesn't make sense...
The tow package is just some extra stuff but not including the hitch.
Some people may not want the hitch just yet or get their own. I'm with you on that one and would rather have it installed by the dealer from the get go.

Thoughts anyone?
I got the tow package for the extra cooling capability ("heavy-duty radiator with engine oil cooler, 200-watt fan coupling, transmission oil cooler with water and air cooler") since southern Arizona heat is tough on a vehicle. Today is 95 degrees with plenty of 100 plus to come later on. So, yes, it can make sense if someone doesn't need the hitch.
I did add the tow hitch once I saw how meager the rear structure is. I've seen too much rear-ending by distracted drivers.
Don't know if I'm too late on this, but I have a Blizzard Pearl with black leather interior 4x4 SE and I have to tell you, it is 100 times nicer looking IMO.
If you were set on the black already, do not settle for ash.
While it may be hotter than an ash interior in the summer, if it gets hot enough to heat up the interior, you will probably be running AC anyway, so the difference is pretty minimal IMO.
I made the mistake with my last car on "settling" and pretty much hating the vehicle 5 months into it.
I can't believe that a sales person told you such BS! For me, a black interior was a dealbreaker. As others have said, the dark interior is sleek and great at hiding marks/blemishes.
My dealer tried to push the ASH interior on me, but I was about to walk away. It was black on black, or nothing.
You're the one making the purchase and you SHOULD get what you WANT!
As for the dark interior getting hotter than a light interior, I don't put any stock in that. I've had both and much prefer the dark interior. Heck, you have A/C!

I agree with you on your other points BUT...
It's not like people are making things up about the darker leather being hotter... it's a FACT (black absorbs more uv than lighter color). Unless you have heavy tint, your black leather seats are and will always be hotter (to the touch) than lighter color leather seats.
