Am I the only one who really REALLY wanted a RED Highlander and had to settle for something else? My magnetic grey 2011 looks nice but I really wanted a vehicle with some COLOR and the rest of the colors didn't do anything for me at all. It is totally beyond me why Toyota dropped RED for 2011. I was actually looking for a used one just to get red but decided that the contents of the 2011 tech package trumped my need for red so I now have a 2011 Highlander. Grey. Now if it only had a compass....
Wanted red or blue but had to settle for the only fully loaded LTD within 100 miles. Color is Oasis Green.
It's not a bad color ... it just doesn't do much for me.
I agree. But I am SO tired of being in the wrong demographic. I'm 63 but dang it, I wanted a red Highlander.
Which brings up a pet peave of mine.... the manufacturers are overlooking (IMO) an important market segment.... people with family, looking for an SUV type vehicle with car fuel economy and ride that can tow the family trailer. Smaller than the usual truck based tow vehicles. There are a bunch of near misses out there but very few vehicles really tick all those boxes. The Highlander is one and the now discontinued Buick Rendezvous (my previous vehicle) was another. And the few that do don't seem to get any marketing "love". No wonder they don't sell.
I would venture a guess it's related to the demographics of who purchases Highlanders.
+1
Sizzling Crimson Mica (I have never seen one in my area) is available on HL's and Avalons
Barcelona Red (my favorite) is available on Camry's, Venza's and RAV4's
Regional buys limit what colors are available to you and the colors you get to choose from are what sells in your Toyota Region

Sizzling crimson is neither in my opinion. I have seen it on a real live Highlander and in bright sunlight it looks like a very dark vaguely reddish brown. On a cloudy day it looks either dark purple or just plain brown. Did absolutely nothing for me.
If you look on the 2011 Toyota Highlander web site, there is NO red available at all, regardless of region. And the color I settled for (magnetic gray) was almost unavailable. To get a base model with tech package and towing, they had to do a dealer swap and drive it 200 miles.
I went through the same thing trying to get a black leather interior with my black limited. I had to wait 4 weeks because all stock in chicago had ash.
I had to settle for my Salsa Red Highlander. Now though, I am very happy with it. I hadn't realized that they had discontinued red as an option. I wanted a Grey interior option, that wasn't an option.
Why no red 2011 Highlanders? Because of BAD JUJU! lol Read my previous appends (search on Juju) on why I traded in my 2008 Salsa Red HL (after having Toyota fix all the scratches) for a 2011 Sandy Beach Metallic HL.
I would post the link to it on the Lia Toyota sales site, but I notice it's no longer available... hopefully it now has a home with someone who gets along well with a red Highlander.

I'm not really crazy about red cars in general, but it is a bit strange that the HL colors are so limited. I had a tough enough time finding black on black which is what I wanted.

Look at the car photos on many web sites (including this one). The majority I see are RED cars. I have to assume that means the manufacturers think people are interested in them. Which makes it even stranger that Toyota dropped red Highlanders.
Oh well. It will remain a burr under my saddle but in fact I actually like my metallic gray HL. It is beautiful in an understated kinda way.
