Looking For The Elusive 'OEM Bug Guard' photo ('11)
made the call to get the OEM bug guard today (thanks gary! ) but stepping out on faith...i haven't seen a photo of an installed OEM guard (there was one thread but some of the members seemed to think that one was installed improperly).
does ANYONE in this great nation of ours (1) have an OEM bug guard installed on their '11 HL and more importantly (2) would be willing to take a couple of photos of it??? looking for a couple of photo angles to determine if it would indeed be a good fit/look. considered other aftermarket options, but there is precious little out there at the moment.
i have a metallic gray HL. the shield should be here sometime late next week.
tia!
ps...every internet photo search seems to bring me back to...wait for it...the same angled photo of the HL from the front. drives me nuts
Here are the pics of the bug guard, bug shield, hood deflector for the Highlander 2011. It's on a Highlander Limited Grey Metallic... sorry the colors are off (took it with an iphone 4).

That seams to be raised up quite a bit. I have one on my 08' and I can't even get my fingers underneath it..

Reason: Images removed from quote.
The OEM is raised a bit more as it does not wrap around the hood like the 08 did. But i like it better... it's easier to wash the hood under the guard.

Can't help you right now as its too dark and i'm not next to the car. I'll try it by the end of the weekend unless someone else beats me to it.
A big THANK YOU for the photos. You may want to add a keyword to your photo post (bug guard, bug shield) so others can find it...right now you've got one of the few photos of one on the Net!
...and glad you were the one to send it...my HL is the same color, so i get a better feel for the actual look. i am also considering the avs aeroskin hood protector as an alternative...the oem is on the way to me as we speak...
Does it really work? I used to have bug gurad on my van but I really don't know if it works or not. The idea is to deflect bugs? and rock chips? I live in the NW so we really don't have too many bugs, maybe it works better at other remote areas?
I hate to say it but thats an aftermarket hood gaurd. The Oem one is almost flush to the hood.
Purchased it from Gary, Parts Manager at Newnan Toyota. It has the Toyota engraving on the top right corner of it. So maybe you bought an aftermarket one?
You do realize that this is strictly for the 2011 and is different from the 2008-2010.

^ actually you're both right. both of you have oem bug guards for the 2011. and here's why...
j_c you are in canada! they have a different version than the us version.
i'm on the road but can post the pic when i get back to a desk. in the meantime, look @ jack63's photos for the canada version (which i happen to like)
I don't need/want to be the judge for anything. Plus Zentech just resolved your quest to tell the forum that Craftydad and I purchased aftermarket parts or that we installed ours wrong.
