2011 HL Roof Rack removal

The HL SE we just purchased came with the roof rack. I'm thinking of removing it for a couple of reasons, one being we'll never use it and two with it being black I know over time it will fade. My question is are they hard to remove and will it leave bolt holes where they were attached. I know there is a black trim that runs parallel on each side but didn't know if part of it was removed to install the roof racks. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I just installed roof rack so can tell you what to do in reverse. You'll need to remove plastic mount covers first, they snap - on. Each mount has 2 bolts that attach mounts to the roof mountings. Once you remove roof rack you'll need parts to cover mounting holes. 8 short bolts, 4 metal brackets that will hold mounting covers and 4 plastic covers that will snap on the brackets.
