Door Sill Protectors?

I've got a 2011 Highlander with a beige interior and two boys (5 and 9) that love using the beige plastic door sills as a step to get in an out.

I already got the husky liners/mats protecting the floor but the door sills are taking a beating.

I thought about getting a step bar/running boards, but have a feeling they would still step on the door sill plastic.

Anyone recomendations on a door sill protector? I saw some stainless ones on Ebay coming from Asia but was worried about fit/quality. I had also thought about using some 3M protector film as well.... Of course my final plan was treat them as a wear item and just replace them when they get bad.....

Any thoughts?

I would try the 3m film. Its cheap and easy to replace.
