TOYO Tires - abnormal tread wear - flaking ?

So I did my regular tire rotation this week, and the service guy said that my TOYO tires on my '08 HH ( 19" ) were wearing abnormally.
The car / tires just rolled to 14k miles.
The tire is flaking on the edges.

The alignment on the car was perfect.

Is this a tire warrenty item ?
Is the air pressure too low? I do 33psi...

Call Toyo Tires, they may give you credit torwards another line of tires they offer. My factory Toyos also had abnormal tire wear with perfect alignment. I replaced at 25,000 miles with Toyo H/T tires and couldn't be happier since. After 20,000 miles, they have worn evenly and still look almost new with deep treads.

Hi! Have you ever tested the H/T tires in the winter? Is it better than the stock Open Country? Toyo Canada contacted me today regarding my complaints about the Toyo stock tires particularly on icy roads and they are willing to change it with H/T 's if I want to. I have to go to my dealership this weekend and have them measure the tire tread so that they can calculate how much I'm going to pay for a set of H/T's. The stock Toyo tires are horrible on snowy and icy roads.

The H/T's are much better in the snow than stock open country. By no means does it compare to winter tires, but yes, I do remember fearing for my life with stock toyos. Do your pricing research on the H/T's when Toyo does offer you the credit. The H/T's are a fairly cheap tire to buy online so it might be more expensive to go through them. I had complications with Toyo and the H/T's were on backorder for me so I ended up getting my set at Treadepot.com and now they offer free shipping. Good luck.

I think bald bicycle tires are better in the snow than the stock Toyos, even when new. I unfortunately did my winter tire changeover two snowfalls ago, and I forgot how poor the A20s were in snow, mind you, the treads aren't as deep as they were when they were new. I'm not sure where you are in Canada, but if I were you, I would seriously consider a separate set of winter tires and rims, unless you are in southwestern BC or somewhere similar.

Hi there. I'm from Alberta. I don't travel that much in the winter and my workplace is only five mins away from home that is why I'm not using winter tires. If the H/Ts are better than the OC then I'd probably go for it. Thanks.

Update - I called TOYO. They will do a warranty replacement with TOYO picking up 71% of the tab on a set of 4 tires.
Of course, I had to get a TOYO tire. I selected the
Versado CUV .

What is the tread depth of your tires right now? How much would it cost you for a set of four? Thanks.

I have no idea about the tread depth. The guy did not tell me. I had 14,000 miles on the tires.
In NJ, the tires are $219 each.

800-442-8696 (6:30am to 5:00pm Pacific Time) Monday - Friday

general information was exchanged on the phone call. They
pointed me to a local tire dealer that would do the formal
inspection of the tires. Then the tire dealer called TOYO to seal the deal.
Very easy...

Yes, call Toyo. Ask for Debbie or Candace. They are very helpful.
I had 28k on my A20's but had been complaining to dealer they were wearing poorly at 15k...
Found the thread at Edmunds and called Toyo. 0-2-0 on tires yet still received 29% off the Versado's. Make the call.

I'm currently playing the waiting game as well. I am at around 32 000 km on my A20s while rotating the spare into the loop (the other 15 000km were on my winter tires). Two of my tires are 3/32" to 4/32" and the other three are at around 5/32". They are OEM tires which generally have poor treadwear, and I wouldn't have expected much out of them anyway, but if other people are getting some dollars towards new rubber, then I figured I might as well try.

I contacted Toyo Canada via email and they responded pretty quick. My local Toyota stealership did the measurements for Toyo on Wednesday May 4th and I am still waiting for them to get off of their asses to send in this one page document eight days later.
