I've just bought a 2008 HL Ltd with the smart key ignition. I received 2 remote fobs, only one of which has an emergency key in it. Both work to start the car and do the locks, etc.
My question is - should I have received a transponder type master key also? I've been doing a lot of reading on this, but haven't found a definitive answer.
Also - how do I get a duplicate for the emergency blade key? I see them online for about $17, which sounds good, but is it really as easy as that (well, plus having it cut to match my existing emergency key)?
A dealer can get another key cut for you for the second fob
Incase the dealer didn't tell you if the battery in the fob dies, you just hold the Toyota logo on the fob against the Start button for a couple of seconds and it will register with the SmartKey system and let you start the car
During the Gas Pedal recall owners wondered how to shut the engine off if they were driving and the pedal stuck.
You just hold the Start button in for a couple of seconds and the engine will shut off

Thanks Summerwind! The dealer *didn't* tell me that, and both things are very good to know!
I'm new to the Smart Key system and a more evolved car, in general - my last car was a Ford Focus wagon, which, while a true trooper, and INCREDIBLE w/ gas mileage, didn't have many amenities. I'm loving the built-in bluetooth, altho it is a pretty clunky menu system compared to some of the over-the-ear's I've used.
mine came with 2 smart keys but only one of them had a key in it - the valet key. the remote isn't like the one you show - it has - 4 buttons. At first they told me there was only one key, but i complained a lot and then I think the sales man found a second, but w/o the valet key.
