Pulsating center brake light?

I was following a Highlander today. I'm not sure of the year, it was a newer body style but did not appear to have glass that opened on the rear hatch.

Anyway, everytime they applied the brakes the center brake light above the hatch would pulsate a few times before going solid. We were in traffic and I saw it happen each and every time the brakes were applied.

I don't remember ever seeing one do that before. Is that a kit that someone sells?

There may be more companies out there, it was just the first one that turned up on an internet search. Waste of money IMO. The people that rear end you aren't paying attention or are following too close. A flashing light isn't going to help in either of those situations.

Actually these are pretty common add on's for motorcycles.... I think it's meant more to attrach attention of someone coming up to a stopped vehicle. I've got one on my motorcycle - $30 (I think it's from Signal Dynamics - Back off). Does it work? Who knows, but it's inexpensive peace of mind for me.
