No text for CDs in Nav/CD unit

My '11 HL's nav/CD unit displays text info for the XM songs, but not for CDs. Neither store bought CDs, nor home made mp3 CDs show any text on the screen when I go to the screen where the song titles should be shown. They say No Info or its blank depending on the screen.

Does anyone else have this problem?? Wondering if I need to do something to ge it to show.

Again, XM song titles and artists appear when I'm on the Sat screen and press Text. But not CDs.

????

Recently found this site and decided to join. The information here is truly priceless !!! So many helpful people !!!

I purchased a 2011 Highlander Limited with Nav/Bluetooth this past April. Love it as I've loved all my Toyota's that I've purchased since my first Celica back in 1979.

To answer your question, I have the same results as you when playing CD's, no title just blank. My display when using the XM radio does show title and artist but only the first 16 letters/numbers even though there seems to be ample space to show all of it.

Is this the same on your unit ?

On burnt cd's (on itunes at least) you have to enable text for the text to show up. I don't know if regular CD's from publishers have text published on them or not (I'm inclined to say no because my computer never shows the text when I put it in.). Do other cars show the text for the same CD's?

I wonder why the text doesn't come up when CD's are played ? If you have XM Radio, does the full title/artist show or is it cut off after the first 16 character's ?

I don't have XM, but CD's show full name and FM stations only show 16 characters (something to do with how the names are broadcast or something)

I contacted XM about the incomplete title/artist on the radio display. They
referred to Toyota. I guess I'll E mail them and see what happens.
Anyone else having the same issue with the XM ?
