On the back of the 08 factory navigation there are at least half a dozen plug connectors. Does anyone have the guide identifying the various plug connectors? There is a black color connector located on the top row that is not used. Maybe for the optional rear entertainment system? All other connectors are used.

shows a similar guide, but this is not the factory navigation.
Take a look at this. http://www.mediafire.com/?wunogwhnfkrwmw3 this is the wire diagram for the JBL/nav system. It will show all wires going from headunit to amp(or rear entertainment), what plug they are, and the pin on that plug. I have the rear dvd unit and when i worked on installing an amp and speakers i had to no empty plugs on the headunit, so I think that black one your talking about is the rear dvd.
Are you trying to install something?
Hope this helps.
Patrick

Patrick, many thanks!!. I installed a Coastal Electronic Lockpick. I do not have rear DVD. Coastal has two models; one (2AV) for non factory DVD players and the other (2WF) for factory DVD players. I have model 2AV. I suspected as you did that the black connector is for the DVD player. From the wire diagram, it's either D16 or E15. I haven't yet located either D16 or E15 on the diagrams - maybe since the diagrams deal with the audio system. For the heck of it, I did plug the Lockpick male plug into the black connector even though the Lockpick female plug did not have a corresponding plug. A test drive proved that the Lockpick works.
Thanks again,
Rick

I just looked at the diagram, it is the E15, its a black connector with 12 pins (sockets are at the very bottom of pdf). The rear dvd system is called the "Television Display Assembly"
I've been considering getting a lockpick. it all depends on how frustrated I get with the nanny nav. I had actually never seen anyone on this forum with it for the highlander. Does it unlock all the speed disabled features? (like specifially blue-tooth phone control and radio control, not just nav destination input?)
Thanks,
Patrick

Patrick, the Lockpick does unlock ALL the features that Toyota had disabled. A quick double press of the radio power switch turns the Lockpick on and all previous disabled functions are now available to use. As a "bonus" if you press the info button, then press the radio power button twice, the factory backup camera comes on while you are driving forward. In short the Lockpick works, it just comes at a price.
