Removing center console (front) from 08 HL

Anyone know how to remove the center console of an 08 HL? I want to get access to the cigarette lighter power and I assume I need to remove the center console to get at it. Any advice?

Check the DIY thread at the top of the forum and look for the stereo install thread. It shows how to pull those panels. I believe you pull the small panel with the aux-in first.

This was discussed in this link. A quarter dropped into shift stick console!
Indications are it is easy.. but I had to give up for fear of breaking something. Let me know how you make out as I want to get at that wire as well.

I actually would like to know how to pull both consoles to get at each one. I just bought a switch and a relay so I plan on tapping the power off one of the two. Now I need to figure out where to put the switch.

well the thread linked in a previous post is how you do it. you could always put the switch in an empty space on 1 of the two buttons on the center console (where the snow button is)

I followed the thread above. Piece of cake.

@ Ralph - I started on the right side of the steering column. There is a little space where two pieces of plastic come together to get your fingers in. I grabbed it and pulled it towards me and all of the "snaps" started coming undone. 5 seconds later I had the entire AUX panel removed (panel where the seat heater controls and cig lighter is) after disconnecting the wiring harnesses. Once that is removed, the top of the center console comes right up. I was able to access the 12V supply for the cig lighter and feed that to a switch. Now I can control when the DVD headrests get power.
