I have an 08 AWD Highlander and would like recommendations on tires for it. I don't want to spend too much. I put 8000 miles a year on them and drive in N.E. NJ winters. The stock A20s only gave me 25000m. Thanks
Besides recommendations that TN members will offer you, I'd suggest visiting both tirerack.com and discounttiredirect.com, plug in your vehicle information, and then make a comparison of the tire options available. You'll be able to pull up both professional and owner reviews for each tire. It's an effective way of finding the right tire. Food for thought.

Thanks for the reply and welcome. I tried the two sites you suggested and found tirerack pretty helpful but wanted to hear from the users that have the Highlander.
Anytime you want a tire that will last a long time and give you good traction, Michelin is always a good choice. While sometimes pricey when looking at the sticker, you need to divide the cost of the tire by the total miles you'll get out of it to really see if it costs more. Many times, people will say a specific tire is too much money, but if you get 60K or 80K miles out of it compared to 30K out of another tire that costs less, they just don't see it.
Anyway, I've seen a lot of people with the HL liking the Michelin LTX. I've got the Michelin LTX AT2 on my Tacoma now and and so pleased with it that I'll be putting it on our HL when it's time. The AT2 is quiet on the highway and works well in all weather (especially snow). And on my Tacoma, my MPGs are actually up from all other AT tires I've had. After 20K miles on them, they've still got 11/32nds left on them. That means I'll get between 80K and 100K miles out of them! They're probably the cheapest tire I've ever owned when using cost/mile.

I'm running Blizzaks year round on 19" LTD rims. They're definitely doing better than the A20's did. And, they're excellent in rain/snow/slush. They grip extremely well year round. I run 36psi in the summer since they a little squishy. But, summers are short enough here in NE/RI/MA that I don't worry about it.
I don't believe in forever lasting tires. IMO, they should be changed every 5 years regardless. Almost any tire, other than the a20's, should last you that 5 years/40k.
I also don't believe in sacrificing traction for MPG or tire life, as most buyers do.
