Homelink mirror install

I finally got around to purchasing a Gentex Homelink mirror with compass. Anyway, I mounted the mirror and now all I have to do is wire it up. I'm not the best with electrics so I want to know what wires I should tap into.

I've been looking at these isntructions:

although they're very helpful, I have 3 wires, not 2 (the extra one is for the Homelink) Ideally, I would like for the Homelink to work when the ignition is on only, so I guess I need to tap into the sunroof or the shift area light?

I had a shop that does factory add ons do mine, they were really reasonable as far as install cost. Can't remember, maybe it was just 50 bucks. I am not a wire wiz and they advised they had to tap the dome light for one part of the home-link and a second hot wire down the A-pillar to the area near the gas/brake pedals. I never investigate where they went with that wire? Maybe thru the firewall? To a fuse box somewhere? Anyway they sdaid they needed 2 hot leads and I guess they had to make sure the second lead turned off when the car was off or it would drain the battery.

I finally installed the mirror.

I got it on eBay for $40, brand-new condition. The wiring harness was another $30.

I followed the instructions for the EC mirror with compass posted in the modifications sticky for the most part. When it came to the wiring up the Homelink portion (yellow wire) I tapped into the yellow wire on the sunroof harness.
