Question Sportwing Body Side Molding Question

Has anyone tried the ChromeLine BSM from Sportwing:
http://www.sportwing.com/toyotahighlander08cf.aspx

...versus the painted BSM:
http://www.sportwing.com/toyota-high...e-molding.aspx ?

I'm thinking the ChromeLine will compliment an '11 Limited with the chrome door handles/roof rails but noticed they carry a 3 year/30,000 mile warranty versus 5 year/50,000 mile for the painted version.

In addition, from the pictures, it looks like the ChromeLine might be a little thicker (due to the chrome insert) which could provide just a bit more protection.

Personally I am not a fan of body side moldings but i would suggest the chrome version for the Limited. In addition OT the handles and roof rail, there is a chrome strip near the bottom of the door on top of the lower rocker panel and in my humble opinion, the chrome would compliment these other accents.

I've never really been a fan of sticking anything to my cars, but if you like the look do it.

My .02, chrome body mouldings might be overkill...it'd be good to see them IRL before buying them, just so you can get an idea of how shiney/flashy they actually are.

Also, why do you want body mouldings? To cut down on door damage?

Because in the long run these could end up doing way more damage... These are essentially glued onto your truck, so the paint underneath won't fade with the rest of the vehicle, and the glue may never come off nicely.

I've always been really careful with where I park to cut down on door dings, and the few that I have gotten in my previous vehicles I always get removed for about $70 bucks. Paintless Dent Removal guys do wonders. I'd pay them before sticking that to my truck any day!

I'd rather take the chance of someone damaging the look of my HL than paying a company and damaging the look by putting that on. WOOF.

As a follow up I decided to go with the OEM BSM. I had them on my '02 HL with no issues.

Reason for installing them on the '11 is 50% looks and 50% function. The door panels are large areas and, IMO, the BSM breaks it up a little and gives the vehicle a different, less massive, look.

Protection issue is a bit harder to define. On my '02 it did prevent the one and only door impact from denting the metal so it did it's job on that occasion.

Dug this one out of the grave but just wanted to let everyone know we have a 5 year warranty on our painted body side moldings and a lifetime warranty on our painted with chrome inserts.
