Hello all! I'm the proud new owner of a Silver '08 Highlander AWD Base with absolutely nothing on it. I am looking to add some roof racks, mud flaps, bug deflector, and trailer hitch to it. I saw these mud flaps on ebay and am wondering:
1. if anyone else has tried them
2. if anyone has any pictures or thoughts/suggestions of a mud flap install
3. if you can suggest any other brands for the mud flaps, racks, and deflector

I dont have roof racks, bug deflector, or hitch, but I do have the toyota oem mudflaps I picked up from here. The install is VERY straight forward, just unscrew a few screws in the wheel arch and put the mudflap in place and re-install the screws. I did however have to put in a new screw in on the back through the wheel arch. The kit should come with directions, mine did.
As for bug deflectors, weathertech makes one custom built for the highlander that is a bit cheaper than OEM (if I remember correctly), but as previously mentioned, I've never used it so I don't know how good it is. I do have their all weather floor mats and love those.
good luck with the rest of the stuff your lookin to add

It's too bad I'm just seeing this thread now...I just drove through NC this weekend on my way to Atlanta for NASCAR.
I love NC and I always stop and spend 2-3 days in NC when I'm passing through...I would have given you mine!
I hate mudflaps, and my truck came with them. I took them off in March, and I think the lines of the HL are so much better without them.
Also, mine started destroying the clear coat on the fenders, so be careful with that...I guess from all the dirt they actually trap underneath them...
I'd love to get reid of mine, they're just taking up good spider-web space in my garden shed.
Ahhh man, I would have met up with you if that were the case! But, if you still want to get rid of them and have all the needed parts/screws.....how much would you charge for the flaps and shipping to Charlotte, NC?
hmm I think all the screws I just put back into my bumpers...
I'll dig around in my shed on the weekend and see what kind of state they are in...I took them off in early March, so they've had one good winters beating, and I didn't clean them or anything, but they should clean up decently.
I'll also try and figure out what shipping to NC would cost from here.

One comment: based on personal experience, I DO NOT recommend getting AVS-branded bug shield and window visors. The quality does not seem to be good - on the bug shield I saw few times deformations (thermal perhaps?), and the AVS window visors are not as nice as Toyota's - feels kind of cheap, the plastic itself is not transparent/clear enough
Other than mudflaps and bugshield (which imo is a must to protect from stone chirps the soft paint), I would suggest to replace the low beams with Philips X-tremeVision H4 - they are not expensive, very easy to replace the stock lightbulbs, and they make HUGE difference when it is dark.

I agree on the extreme vision just put a set in my 2010 limited last night very happy with results. Put the old ones in a food saver vac bag in glove box in case one goes out on a long trip

I have been totally satisfied with my AVS visors. They lasted 17 years on my 4Runner, and I just put then on my 2011 HL.
I like the HL mud flaps for 2 reasons. They protect the vehicle from road grit, salt and other things. From the rear they appear to lower the vehicle and in my eyes give it a more aggressive stance.

I have an oem mudflaps on my 2011, it is really functional, drove the car in the snow in May and I did not have problem with dirt/mud getting into my rear glass
