Last night I went and filled up my HL with gas, started it up and the airbag light has been on ever since. Theres a SRS message on the MFD.. have you had this problem before? What kind of warranty is this covered under?

I've had this happen to me before with the whole message on the screen and what not. I pulled the negative terminal off the battery and let it sit for 20 min and put it back on and it reset the ECU. Hasn't appeared since. Mine came up when I was working on the speakers on my car, which definitely isn't airbag related
Hope this helps
EDIT: ignore, read below

According to Toyota's website, Airbags and seat belts are covered for 5 years or 60K miles in the US. If you live in Kansas, it's 10 years/unlimited mileage.
I thought that it was longer, but maybe Toyota changed their policy. This info is from their owner's info page. This is for a Toyota that was purchased new. Certified pre-owned may be different.
If your Highlander still falls under the warranty, I wouldn't pull the battery cables. I would have it checked at the dealer. Ask to know what code pops up, that way you know what it was, even if the dealer themselves just do a reset to clear the code. (That way if it pops up again you know it wasn't just a one-time fluke.)
I just remembered the active recall on select 08's. The B1E recall for the airbags. I am under this recall which is probably why my light has come on before. Is yours under this recall? The symptom for the problem is the malfunction light for the airbags coming up on the screen. I had completely forgotten about the recall, don't pull the negative terminal like I said earlier and have it checked

FROM TOYOTA's Website:
Safety Recall B0E (B1E - Interim) - Certain 2007-2008 Model Year RAV4 Vehicles and certain 2008 Model Year Highlander/Highlander HV Vehicles Curtain Shield Airbag (CSA) Sensor
Code: B1E
Memo
At the present time, Toyota is developing the remedy for this safety recall. As soon as a remedy is available, Toyota will notify owners of covered vehicles by first class mail. Please continue to check this site for additional information.
What is the Condition?
In the curtain shield airbag (CSA) system of the subject vehicle, there are two sensors in the airbag sensor assembly which are designed to detect vehicle roll angle. If one of these sensors malfunctions, the airbag warning light (Malfunction indicator Light: MIL) will illuminate and the roll detection system will be suspended; however, the airbag (CSA) remains available in the event of a side crash. If both sensors fail nearly simultaneously, the CSA and the seat belt pretensioner could inadvertently deploy upon vehicle startup (or within several seconds of startup) or during vehicle operation. Inadvertent deployment of the CSA and/or the seat belt pretensioner can cause injury to a vehicle occupant.

I had this happen to me too and the dealer said that the main airbag computer had to be replaced. I thought it was a joke what they quoted me. They said that they'd have to reprogram my airbag computer too. Is there even such a thing?
There is a recall for it at this point, but Toyota hasn't found a fix for the issue yet.
