Can someone confirm SmartKey Battery type

Our fobs are reading low battery. I don't have access to the manual or one of our keys at the moment. And I don't want to call the wife and have her try to pry it open as she'll likely end up wrecking it. Can someone confirm the replacement battery needed for the SmartKey Fob? I have an '08 LTD. Is it a CR1632?

Yes, it is the CR1632.

Example, one of many purchasing sources: http://www.autotransponder.com/2008_...rt_key_battery

The stealership will charge you $10 to replace the battery (I guess that's $9 for the fancy state of the art dime they used to pry it open). I got, like a lifetime supply of the things from online for less than that.

You do realize you can pick it up at a Walgreens made by Energizer for like $4. I've already had to do this. You don't have to go to the dealership/order online...

Exactly what I was thinking. Shipping probably kills any online deal when these are so cheap in retail stores. How long do these batteries typically last?

Thank you for the quick reply! We are picking up a black one for my wife tomorrow! Hope she likes it. Any problems with the FOB yet? For some reason I just don't trust those things ha ha.

$5.90, free shipping
Amazon.com
Panasonic CR1632 3 Volt Lithium Coin Battery (pack of 5)
I have two remotes so that leaves 3 batteries, good for about three years. For $3.54, I'll take a chance that they go bad.

...and I was already ordering something from amazon anyway.

But I agree, if you can buy them locally that would be a couple days quicker.

Good to know! No problems with the push-button ignition either?

The actual key opens the fob.
Just remove the key from the fob and insert to open the fob up to replace the battery.
