I wish I had the side moldings on mine... The very first week I got my HL, wife took it to a store and someone scratched the rear door with a shopping cart (!!!!). (and of course it happened while she was not there)
From this forum I learnt that SportWing.com is the cheapest place to get these at a reasonable quality (and noticeably cheaper than the dealership).
Some people hate the look with the side molding, some don't - it is personal choice. However, they do provide some protection.

Myself, would not put it on. Even if the dealership gave me $2000 to PUT IT ON I would turn them down.
I think the vehicle looks so much better without them, and it won't save you from all dings. If the next car's front door lines up perfectly with the the moulding it worked, but it won't stop any rear doors or cars with low set-body mouldings from dinging you.
Paintless dent removal is pretty cheap, and I'd rather go to a PDR guy 5 times a year than put the moulding on my truck.
ALSO, my truck has been hit once on my drivers door from what I can tell. There is a very light scuff that mostly buffed out. The door didn't ding or fold at all. Reflection is still perfectly smooth. My Sunfire has 2 similar scuff's that left behind small wiggles in the door. Seems the HL's doors are pretty dent resistant...at least compared to a Sunfire :P

I see a lot of cars at the shop and those with 100 dings from other doors hitting then are typically in the same location on the doors that location is where the moldings would go
Thanks for everyone's reply! I'm not even sure what it looks like. It just came on a HL I'm not getting at another lot. I'll have to look online to see what they look like.
The appearance is a matter of personal preference. That being said, mine have saved me from one door ding so far on my '11' . I'm sure that they will help to keep the doors from the worst of the potential dings from the inconsiderate.
Mine have prevented at least 3 dings from what I can tell based on the marks left on my side moldings. I hate seeing dings, and paying $125 for each dent repair is not my cup of tea. Also, there's the hassle of taking the car in and making other arrangements. I think it looks a little cleaner without them, but I prefer to have them on simply to avoid some dings. Like everyone else has said, it's personal preference.
