2008 highlander 3rd row seat

Hi....Great forum....I've a 2008 Highlander Sport Edition. There is no 3rd row seat and was wondering if I can add that option to my highlander to support a growing family. I took off the matt cover in the back and notice it had a cavity for the optional 3rd row seat. I found a salvage yard offering to sell me the seat for $1k.....no sure if this is possible to do it myself.. and how I put in the seat restrain system. Thanks for your input.

Thomas, look in the DIY Maintenance and Modifications sticky thread at the top of the 2nd Gen Highlander forum page. There's two links in there for you regarding installation/removal of the 3rd row seat so, yes, it can be done. The mountings are there for you to install a seat, and with help should take about 3 hours depending on your mechanical skills.

BTW, to Toyota Nation and also to the Highlander forums!

you may want to try the 11+ split seats instead of the 08-10 one piece. We have a member here that want to swap their seats for your cargo space. You may want to try them out first as it won't cost you to do the swap, just time.
