2012 AWD HL with Toyo A20s

On Tuesday I will go over to a dealer to look at the 2012 AWD HL. He says that it has Toyo A20s.

I've read posts about this tire. Some reported very early replacement due to early tread wear, while others are saying they are having an ok experience.

There seem to be way too many bad reports compared to good reports on this tire.

The dealer said he would swap them out for some Bridgestones, he didn't say which ones.

Ideally, I'd like to see the Goodyear Intergritys with Fortrera TripleTreds or the good Michelins.

I live in the SF Bay Area and plan to visit Yosemite during the winter and travel some forest service roads Fall/Spring/Summer

Any updated info on the Toyo 20s? Thx

As with the majority of OEM tires, they are not built for high mileage but rather for comfort and quiet to help sell the vehicle. The same posts re early wearout were around when I got my '09 HL Limited. I used Toyo winter tires for 5 months of the year so it extended the life of the OEM Toyo. You won't even find the A20 listed on the Toyo website. Depending on which Bridgestone you would be getting in exchange, you may not be any further ahead. Get the tire model and check it out first.

A20's Are Horrible in the Snow

The title says it all. I'm in Upstate NY where we have a solid five months of winter and plenty of snow. I can safely say that the A20's are one of the worst tires that I have ever driven in the snow. I've been driving in snow for almost 40 years, so I've had plenty of experience. I picked up my '11 Highlander AWD in January and bought a set of Michelin ATX's by the end of the first week. My dealer refused to swap them for anything else, so if your dealer is willing to give you something else, anything else, grab 'em.

I've got 38,000 miles on my 2010 sport and my tires are at 6/32". I'm sure that they changed the formula for the rubber after the first year or so.

Yes, the A20s are horrible in the snow (not unlike alot of all-season tires). I would go with the swap no matter what model of Bridgestones they offer. I got about 32000km on my A20 tires before replacing them (really not that bad for OEM tires). I use winter tires as well for about 5 months a year.

I now have Versado CUV tires for 7 months of the year, and they work well.

Also, regarding the three tire brands that you had mentioned, are they available in the OEM size (if you are looking at a HL with 19" wheels, then I don't think that they do)? If not, I am quite sure that the dealer will not change to a non-OEM sides tire.
