I am considering a second set of wheels / tires for winter use. I think the TPMS system is a bit goofy... however it is there and rather than put up with a warning light all winter I will probably invest in a new set of TPM's.
This technology seems to be evolving. A separate thread gave me this link
http://www.racingking.ca/tpms-tools-...kset-p-60.html where for some $160 one can purchase a gadget that will allow one to program the new sensors and connect them to my Highlander. Seems like a good idea and will save the reprogramming cost that Toyota would like to have me spend every 6 months.
But, today Canadian Tire told me their system goes one better.. they actually program the new sensor to be the same as the original. With this method evidently one only changes the tires/wheels and the sensor(s) are automatically read. If it works
Anyone with any thoughts or experience with this?
Here is a link to the TPMS's that Canadian Tire uses. Programing the sensor and not the car seems like a much better solution. The price Canadian Tire has quoted me is $54.99 each and a $43.60 charge to program them.
