Aftermarket Tow Package, Transmission Cooler

I have a 2008 Highlander without the factory tow package. I'm towing my 2500 lb travel trailer with it. Toyota says it only has a 2000 lb limit.

But the tow package Highlanders have a 5000 limit. Can I add an aftermarket transmission cooler? Will this help increase my tow ability? Or am I pretty much stuck since my car doesn't have the factory tow?

Well the tow package comes with more than just the tranny cooler. It also comes with a "heavy duty radiator with engine oil cooler". Plus it comes with a "200 watt fan" for the radiator which I'm assuming is more than the stock (non tow package isn't listed). And a 150 amp alternator instead of the 130 amp on stock (though that wouldn't make a difference in towing really). So basically you can add a tranny cooler, but your still missing the extra engine cooling capacity that the tow package adds.
As I don't use my highlander to tow, I can't comment on if you can still do it or not, I just pointing out there are still things missing from the factory package if you try and go with a aftermarket tranny cooler.
