Does the Nav Unit Play DVD Movies?

I put an Eclipse DVD/NAV Unit in my 2003 Highlander so you could do NAV or watch DVD movies through the same head unit.

Now I have the 2008 Highlander with the NAV and I'm wondering if it too will play DVD movies if you take the Map disc out? Or do you need a separate DVD player for this?

To my knowledge the only way to get a movie up on the navi screen is with the toyota rear dvd player. Then you have to be in park with the parking brake on for it to even come up.
Aftermarket would probably be your best bet.
