After market Transmission Cooler

I have a 2008 base model Highlander with no tow pkg. I want to tow a 2500 lb TT with it. Does anyone know how much an after market transmission cooler costs? What's the difficulty level to install?

Any recommendations on towing without a tow pkg? Toyota says 2000 lb tow capacity without tow pkg and 5000 lbs with it. I don't see how a tranny cooler can add 3000 lb capacity. Any thoughts?

I can't comment on the ability to tow (as I don't use my HL to tow)/difficulty to install but I can tell you the tow package is a lot more than just the tranny cooler. It includes a "heavy duty radiator with engine cooler", more powerful cooling fan, prewired harness for trailer lights, and a 150 amp alternator (as opposed to 130 stock). So its not the tranny cooler that adds the 3k lbs to the limit, its a combination of all of that.

I installed a 16000 btu B&M cooler this weekend. It was less than $60 and was a cinch to install.

Well none of the differences listed, make it tow more. Maybe the radiator will help with heavier towing, but other than that meh! If I remeber correctly the tow package has an oil cooler, and a tranny cooler. I think the base can tow a certain amount, but dont remember the weight. Check your owners manual
