cargo box and oem cross bar

What is tbe largest cargo box that I can have on the OEM cross bar without interfering the opening of the hatch for a 11 Ltd. Based on my search it looks like the Thule Atlantis 1600XT is one of the few options. Thanks.

Uh, you should do a search here about the OEM cross bars and cargo box. I tried one on mine and like others, I had significant porpoising (bouncing up and down) of the cargo box at highway speeds. Made me very wary and concerned that something was going to happen. Not the most enjoyable drive, especially when driving a couple of days to vacation..constantly checking and worried it was going to fly off. So I bought the Thule Aero bars and now have absolutely no issue with my cargo box or my kayak.

I purchased the Thule Atlantis 1600XT and am pleased with it. The one concern I had was that there is very little clearance under the clamps. If I center the carrier then the clamps are above the raised (corrugated?) part of the car top have less than 1/8 inch clearance. To give me slightly more clearance I offset the carrier so that the clamps are in the depressed section of the roof, this gives possibly 3/16 to 1/4 inch. I was concerned that if there was any porpoising the clamps would touch the roof. This did not seem to happen even with a considerable load of suitcases that "probably" exceeded the recommended load.
I still am concerned with the clearance but so far have not acted on any ideas to improve the issue.
