taillight removal

Anybody knows how to remove the taillight on HL 2011-2012?
I got hit by someone and the left taillight is broken.

I want to know if it is not too difficult for a DIY replacement.

This question was asked before but there was never a definitive answer for removing the entire assembly. If no one chimes in then your best option would be to purchase a two-day membership with Toyota's Technical Information System (TIS) which will have all the tech details and diagrams available for download. You can get to TIS online by clicking here.

If anyone ever does a taillight assembly removal DIY I'd be happy to put it in a place of honor in the Mods & Maintenance sticky thread.

Thanks! I think this is for bulb replacement? To remove the whole assembly, then probably a few more plastics pieces or bumper got to be removed?
However, I think it's a good start. Will try it this weekend and see.

That is how to remove it, but it is a little vague. I just remembered an old pdf in the LED taillight thread (the ebay led taillight assembly). C5BlkVette made a pretty awesome pdf on how to remove the OEM one and replace it with the LED one. It has a much more step by step procedure. Here is the link I copied from the thread to pdf file. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S33Z6LS8

Traildust if you read this, this pdf should probably be added to the taillight removal sticky as it goes into MUCH more detail/step by step as opposed to the 2 pictures/few steps

EDIT: Thanks, buddy! I downloaded it and will host it on my own file hosting service and then amend the sticky thread. That's usually preferable because you don't know how long files by others will be hosted, and MegaUpload where it's hosted now kind of spams downloaders with stuff. Anyway, I'll update the sticky...thanks again!

A year membership can be had at alldata.com for less than $25/car. OEM manual torn apart and posted as web pages.

They keep sending me renewal invites for $13.95. Email them for latest promotions.
