Question 2012 Highlander - Radio Preset Issues

Two weeks ago I turned in a Rav4 lease and picked up a Highlander SE. I do not have a navigations system, but I do have the AM/FM/XM radio with single CD player and MP3 and iPod USB port. I had gone through all of the six sets of preset radio channels to set up favorites of all types. They worked fine. Now overnight the presets are gone, and I can only see the first set of presets. My wife used the car fora day and complained the presets didn't work. When checking this I see that sets 2 through six do not even appear when I try to cycle through all of them. If I push and hold the Presets button I get a display that says there are 6 sets but only one is in use. Any hints or clues as to what might have happened, or how to restore all six sets? Maybe an off combination of actions has them locked up?

For AM/FM & SAT there are multiple pages of presets - press the tab that illustrates the band (i.e. "FM") and you can cycle through the various pages for the specific band and then you should be able to see the pages that contain the presets that you already set up.
Good luck!

As I see you're in NY can you give me the particulars as to what your new lease payments might be - that is if you're leasing again, of course?

I have an '09 RAV that goes back soon and I'm looking at the SE as well. If the lease payments are manageable I may go that route again.

Thanks.

yes, there are six sets of six preset channels. I went thru them all and established favorties across all bands AM, FM, XM. But now, when I go to any of the radio bands with the band selection button, I can only see the first set of presets. I cannot cycle through sets 2 - 6 , only the fisrt set of presets. I can reset any of the six channels on the first set, but the remaining 5 sets are gone and inaccessible. Ideas?

Of course it depends on what miles you are signing up for and what you want to put down in cash. I have 15K miles per year, put down 1800 down and that got me about a 420 monthly payment. If you love the standard auto dealer negotiating dance, you might do better!

I have exactly the same problem on my 2011 Avalon. No reason that I can find and it happen as I was driving. However I swear there was a very low pop noise before they stop working.

Resolved !

I finally got to the bottom of this problem - visiting the dealership and talking with a technician. I didn't see anything about this in the manual, but there is actually an option on the radio to chose how many sets of presets you want to use. You can actually select one or more of the 6 sets of presets to be available. The intent is, I think, that you may only want to have, say, 3 of the 6 sets in use - meaning that sets 4-6 will be ignored. When cycling thru the presets in normal operation you will see only sets 1, 2 and 3 displayed. You can specify this by pushing and holding the presets button. A display will appear showing the 6 preset numbers from left to right, and a message will indicate how many are in use. By selecting, in this example, the number three with the corresponding radio button, you are specifying you want 3 sets of presets to be used. A line appears under that number. Pushing the presets button again selects and saves you choice, and now only sets 1 thru three will appear to be in use when scrolling thru them.

Somehow this was done on my radio by someone playing around, and only one preset was selected. When cycling thru them only one set then appeared. When I went thru the corrections process to say I wanted to use 6 sets, they all were 'returned' into service, and none of my stations I had set were lost.

Somehow that seems far more complicated then it needs to be. Glad it worked out for you.
