Howdy folks. Just joined here. I bought the wife a 2012 Highlander Limited on Saturday since her Santa Fe died. Not sure if this is the right place for an intro but it's where I'll be the most.
I'll probably add pictures to the sticky later this week. This vehicle blows me away. I hated the HL's I had seen but she wanted a 3rd row. We had a great sales guy, and this vehicle impressed me. Ours is Black on Black w/Nav and front wheel drive.
First things I'm looking to do are as follows:
Bypass the nav lockouts for moving operation (lock pick or prestigious society seem to be the best?)
Add crossbars up top
Add running boards
Also - when I had my 350Z everyone had clear bras installed. What's the consensus here?
Welcome to Toyota Nation, and welcome to the Highlander forums too! Let me know if you have any questions about the forums, and be sure to read through the sticky threads at the top of the Highlander forum page as they have lots of great info in them.

Just a comment on the Lockpick. I have one and it works well with one exception. There is a timeout "feature" that turns off the Lockpick after about one minute. So if you are slow on inputting, the Lockpick times out and you have to (again) turn the Lockpick on by pressing the radio power button twice to resume where your were at. I wish this "feature" wasn't part of the Lockpick or would else would allow the user to turn it off when finished inputting.

I'm new to everything here as well; new to this forum, new to Toyota (my first Toyota), and of course, new 2012 blizzard Pearl Highlander 4W Limited. I am also looking to do the same things as well; clear bra, Nav lockouts, HID, and other add on features for HL found in Asia part of the world... I'm currently searching for HID conversion kit. I just posted a few questions at the other discussion topic specifically for HID conversion kit. Hope to find a good reliable HID conversion kit.

well the problem is not with the hid kit most of the time. they all work good for me. ive have those ebay specials to ddm to a couple of others. all are still working. i believe that since the projectors are made for halogens the hid bulbs are too long and give a bad output. to fix that output you would have to space the bulb. if i remember to do it ill post a link up of the thread

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas. After looking more closely, the distributor tacked on the 3m paint pro already, so we're looking ok there.
Still undecided on navigation bypass, but the lock pick looks promising, as it does the same thing as the PS but cheaper. I was looking into running boards merely for aesthetics, especially ones that have lights on them.
Those of you that mentioned HIDs, I thought the limiteds came with HID headlamps???

nope they come with halogen projectors. But they are still better than the reflector halogen housings on the 08-10. I've seen the 2011+ on the road and it has a very wide beam compared to the stock 08-10 (which is quite narrow in my opinion)

Thanks Kingnba6. There are others on this forum installed the HID kit already without any mods so the fitment is not a problem.
Gigag04, I'm not sure what Toyota is thinking why they have not even thought of including HID as part of the option package! Regarding navi bypass, I read from another post that navi bypass causes incorrect car position locations on the map because of the speed sensing is cut off in order for it to work while the car is moving. I haven't read too much into it yet, but I thought the speed sensing could just be turned off and turned on again after the destination is entered then the navi would reposition automatically. When I have the opportunity, I'm going to do more research on this. What is "running board" that you mentioned and the benefit of using it?

1. As soon as you switch back within seconds the map recognizes where you are.
2. Running boards go below the doors and help people get into the vehicle. My Sequoia needs them to help get in, my Highlander does not.
