XM Radio

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all

I tried checking other posts, but did not see a clear answer. I just got a XM Satellite subscription for Christmas. I have a 2008 Sport with the factory NAV and wasn't sure if I needed to buy another antenna for the satellite radio to work. I don't have any external antennas on it

Thanks

I vaguely remember a member here doing an install. Search for the thread. It requires a little bit of work.

Thanks, awfully complicated since it is already supposed to be intergrated into the factory stereo. I thought at worst I would just need an external antenna.

There is a SAT/AM button on it, but I have not been able to find the radio code. It says to tune to channel 0, but I can't figure out how. The owners manual is not very helpful

Why is it when I push the AM/SAT button it only stays on AM, it won't pull up the SAT screen. I do have the factory NAV system

Thanks

Sounds like you are missing the XM radio receiver and install kit. I believe two part numbers are needed for that install. IF the receiver was installed it would give you XM channel 001 (demo) and you could go to channel 000 i think to show the receiver code.

I put XM in my 09 Sport with the unit from the dealer. On the sticker, Toyota says it's "XM ready" or something similar. You have to purchase the satellite radio tuner unit that is installed in the dash - behind the glove box. I did see find a PDF to do it yourself, but after looking through the steps, I opted to have the audio shop that the dealer uses here in town install it. Nothing will happen when you press the SAT button unless this unit/box is installed.

I installed the XM in my wife's 08 years ago. You need to get the kit and install the reciver under the drivers seat and run cables to the radio and mount an antenna.
