Wheel arch molding options 2011-2012 HL

I have only seen one example of Wheel Arch Molding A.K.A. Fender Flares that you can get for the 2011-2012 HL. You can get them color keyed and they are nice Bolt on/3M tape style. Nice Toyota option.

My question is, do they make or are they gonna make a wheel arch molding that is like the ones on the 2012 4Runner, Subaru Outback, or Kia Sorento. Those models have a thinner textured black plastic piece that follows the wheel arch. It sole purpose is for protecting the wheel arch from door ding damage. It gives the vehicle a utilitarian look and serves a function. I think it is a little more masculine then the color keyed ones.

Any ideas on those for the Highlanders?

More plastic Fender wheel Archs noticed.

Add 2012 Honda CRV to the list. They also come with the textured black plastic wheel arch fender flares that protect the fender arch from door ding damage. Are these soon to be on the 2013 HL. From the look of all the vehicles out with this addition, it is probably in the works I hope.

Sorry, but I certainly don't!!!...unless it's optional. I had a 2005 Subaru Outback Turbo, Obsidian Red with those flares (all one color)....loved and miss that car...but certainly would have done without the fender flares. I preferred the clean look of the Subaru Legacy GT with no flares. Plus, the flares, unless you match them with wheels that have a lower offset (ie stick out more), make the care look less masculin and less aggressive IMHO. This is what really bothers me with the look of the new 4Runner vs the old 4Runner....the wheels on the new 4Runner are so far inset it, from the back or front, it looks taller than wide...like it could easily topple over. Look at higher end/luxury vehicles, and you will see what I mean (most come with wheels that are more flush with the fender for a much wider stance...akin to racing cars...more masculin...more aggressive).

I just prefer the cleaner look without flares, BUT, if someone really wanted to dress the vehicle up, then the flares would allow for wider and lower offset wheels.

I realize opinions are just that, but a HL with flares that are not optional, would be off my short list. To each his/her own.

4 Runner Flares

You are correct about the NEW 4Runner. The wheels look set in way to far for stability. Consumer Reports only graded that vehicle a 50-51 Unrecommended which is why I chose the Highlander. The HL score was 80+ and was recommended by CR. I sold my 2005 Subaru Outback XT which was also red to purchase the larger HL.
